Maternity Photoshoot with Bobby Kiran

What a grey and rainy morning! Even Baby Paul seemed to have woken up slightly later than usual this morning to sleep in (: As mentioned in the previous post, today I am going to share about my previous appointment with my awesome gyne, Dr. Tham and something fun that Len and I did last Wednesday.

Guess the blogpost title already let the cat out of the bag, it is actually a maternity shoot that we did with Bobby Kiran Yeo (Check out his website and facebook!) (: I think even before I was pregnant, I had always thought of pregnancy as an indescribably beautiful thing. Being the vainpot that I am, I soon realised that I need to lay off dyeing my hair which made me a wee bit sad at first (stop rolling your eyes!) but I got used to it eventually! And seeing Baby Paul grow day by day, the hair surprisingly did not bother me that much. What really helped too was Lenard telling me constantly that he loves me and my tummy (: and that most importantly, this gift from God is so much more than about just looking good and it helped me hold back on my hair-dyeing urges hahaha. Hence, we just want to really capture this beautiful phase that we are experiencing together and we decided that we will go ahead with the maternity photoshoot.

Some of you who have read this blog before would already know that Bobby was our pre-wedding and actual day wedding photographer last September (: the fact that we are getting him to do our maternity photoshoot is a testimony of his professionalism and how much we like what he did for us previously. We approached Bobby about a month prior to the shoot and thank God, he was able to fit us in amidst his busy schedule (: so yay!

Just like how we had prepared for our pre-wedding shoot, Bobby started bouncing off ideas with us and we also did our own research as well. With the few days before the photoshoot being absolutely insane because of the Art project, we barely had time to think through what we wanted to do actually. However, all went well during the shoot as Bobby as usual, was creative and quick with ideas that just lit up as he got around our place. As we got into the swing of things, our excitement led us to using other props around the house which we had not expected to use too (: Before we see my week 37 tummy, these are the polaroids for week 34 to 36 (: is Baby Paul growing? He sure feels heavier. From week 36 to 37 alone, he has put on 400g and was 2.95kg last week!

Week 34 to 36!

Behind-the-scene photographs of the shoot that day. (These were taken by Aunty Nat. God is so good to just send us helpers whenever we need them! That morning, we spontaneously met Aunty Nat for breakfast after we went to submit the Art project and after knowing we had a shoot that day, she volunteered to come with the kids to help us out (: much love!!!)

Taking a photo of Bobby taking a photo of us.
He was using his phone to check the amount of light for the really cool old-school film analogue camera he was using (:
Pardon my facial expression wahaha.

My hubby rocks. Doing a headstand with the photo wall with his 37-week progress.  This boy has been getting fitter as I get bigger.

Finally, here is just a sneak peek of the photographs that Bobby took (:

The Week 37 tummy (: with my weekly polaroids to form a L for.... we will find out when more photos are out!

God's gift of life.

My man and our Little man.

It is just so important to be comfortable with the photographer you are working with because it will be quite impossible to capture the most natural and real emotions if there is just awkwardness lingering.
Our blessing really, that it is always such a joy to work with Bobby because of just how sincere he is, the way he gives directions and how he tries to connect with you and he has really become a friend more than just a photographer. The best thing is, he will be taking Baby Paul's photographs after he is born. Really can't wait for that (:

Speaking of blessings and being comfortable, our doctor who has been journeying with us this entire pregnancy is another blessing we are truly thankful for. Despite the long waiting time, we had chosen to be with him as many around me had had their children delivered by him and he was described as having the persona of the very wise 'Papa Smurf'. We also decided that we would like a Christian gynecologist and God provided. Indeed, when Lenard and I first met him, we immediately felt assured by how calm and fatherly he is. Every appointment, he will ask where Lenard is if Lenard was unable to accompany me for an afternoon appointment due to his work.

Most people are saying that Paul will be popping any time soon and we are really hoping that he will be popping in July as dear Dr. Tham will only be back from his vacation on the last day of June. Was a bit anxious at first but we know that we will still be in good hands with the arrangements that Dr. Tham had made if Baby Paul really gets too excited to stay in his private jacuzzi in my womb (: We will still pray for July 7th but whichever day that Baby Paul is born will be part of God's perfect timing and we believe strongly in that!

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV

Pray along with us! (:
